Ah! The Change of Seasons

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Who loves us?  Jesus, thats who.  I love this time of the year when the leaves begin to turn, the temps get cooler, and the holidays draw near.  There is an excitement in the air.  The work load seems lighter, although in acutality it is much, much heavier.  This is our busy time of the year, right up to January.  Then we get a little breather and around the end of February comes Ash Wednesday and the Lenten Season begins leading up to Easter.  Busy, busy.  It is all good.  The changing seasons are a reminder to me that God is in control and that things happen for a reason.  The colorful leaves fall and the temperatures along with them and I know that life is not about me.  God has a plan for me, you, and all of creation.

The problems begin when we try to take control of our lives.  Oh, it may seem like we are steering the ship, and we are doing what we want to do with our lives.  But God will not be mocked, a man reaps what he sows.  If we take credit for our lives, especially our successes, then we are selfish and full of pride.  That is a reflection of what is in our hearts.  That kind of attitude reveals our attitude towards God.  God loves us and wants the very best for us, not just some temporary fix, but an eternal one.  So since we can't change or control life lets give it, our lives, to God who can.  God has a plan for you and me and those plans may surprise you.  This I know - God loves you very much and there is no changing that with the Holy One of Israel, the LORD God Almighty.  Seasons come and seasons go but God is always the same.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
