Because He is Risen

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I love you!  Why?  "Because He is Risen!"  This will be Sunday's sermon called "Why?" and whenever I say 'Why' you say, 'because He is risen!', ok?  A lot of people ask, "If there really is a God then why is there sickness, birth defects, wars, crime, violence, and disasters?  And I say, "Why not?".  Can you imagine living in a world where nothing 'bad' ever happens?  Not only would we lose appreciation for the good things we have, but we would not feel a need to be rescued, loved, or even to grow up. We would not feel a need for God.  I know, "well preacher, are you saying that God makes bad things happen so we will worship Him?"  No.  We live in a broken sin-filled world where bad things happen even to good people.  In Genesis 1 it says that God saw all that He had made and it was very good.  No sickness or disease, no pain, violence, deformities, suffering, brokenness or death.  Then in Genesis 3 sin enters into the world and along with it comes brokenness, disease, pain, suffering, and death.  God did not desert us.  Oh no, instead God provided us a way out of this dark world to a world where everything is once again perfect and that way, the only way, is through faith in Jesus Christ.  Now God allows the world to go on the way it is with its sin-filled wickedness, pain, suffering, death, and brokenness and holds His hand out to us to help us and to lead us to a better place.  Nothing in this world is Permanent.  It is all only temporary except for our faith in Jesus Christ.  Even our suffering is only for a time as long as we have Jesus in our hearts as our Lord and Savior.  Why? (Remember you are to say, 'because He is risen!).  Because He is risen the chains of death have been broken and the grave cannot hold Him or us for if we are baptized into His life then we are also baptized into His death and resurrection.  So no matter what this world throws at us we no longer have to fear it or even death.  Why? (you say?)

Never again will i confess I can't for "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phil. 4:13.  This is the Word of God and it is true.  Why? (***).  Never again will I confess lack for "my God shall meet all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Phil. 4:19.   Why? (***). Never again will I confess fear, for "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind" 2 Tim 1:7.  Why? (***). Never again will I confess defeat, for "God always causes us to triumph in Christ" 2 Cor 2:14. Why? (***). Never again will I confess the supremacy of Satan over my life , for "greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world" 1 John 4:4.  Why? (***).  Never again will I confess the domination of sickness over my life, for "the chastisement of our peace is upon Him and by His stripes we are healed" Isaiah 53:5.  Why?  (***).  Never again will I confess worries and frustrations, for "I am casting all my carers upon Him for He cares for me" 1 Peter 5:7.  Why?  (***).  Never again will I confess loneliness, for the Lord said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" Hebrews 13:5  Why?  (***).  And the list goes on.  We can face tomorrow with the Corona virus and all.  Why? (***).  Yes, He is risen indeed!  God bless you and have a wonderful Easter.  Make it the best Easter of your life and for others as well.  Why?  (***).

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
