My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, October 2022
The seasons have changed, the weather has gotten cooler, the leaves are slowly changing, and winter is on its way. I have gotten older. My birthday just passed and I turned 67 years old. Ha! I don't feel a day over 80. No, my joints ache, my hair is thinner, I am grayer and more wrinkled, but I get around okay and can still put 2 and 2 together. However, I am changing and there is more behind me than there is ahead of me and that is okay too. Change comes to everyone and everything.
It is hard for people to accept change and therefore they fight it any way they can. Like change in the way we do church. We, many of us, would like to put up multimedia screens in the sanctuary so that we can appeal to more people in the community with our services. We want to reach more people for Jesus because there is nothing more important than salvation. NOTHING! Some people do not want multimedia in the sanctuary beause it offends their sensibilities about the beauty of the church. What is more important? Looks or salvation? If painting everything red, white, and blue will save souls or if taking the windows out and putting in plain glass will save souls, what can be more important than that? Change is not easy and sometimes it is downright hard, but we have to ask ourselves what would Jesus have us do? Jesus certainly went through change, didn't he? From being God in the heavenly realms to being a wee babe in a manger. Is it more important to worship the created or the Creator? See Romans 1:25. I do not want to upset anyone and I certainly do not want people to leave the church because they are upset, but as much as I love everyone there is One whom I love even more...Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour, My God. Change has come to our church over the years. Different lights, sound system, furniture, carpets, and the list goes on. Change is okay, as long as we are consistent with our love for one another and especially for Almighty God, whether we like it or not. Come on, we are family. We can do this and change toghether.
There is one thing that does not change and that is God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He loves us. There is a change of seasons happening all around us. What can we do to make it a good change of seasons? God loves you and so do I.
Praise the Lord Always,
Pastor Bruce
