He Is Risen!

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

How you doin?  Well, the most important Christian holiday is coming up soon.  Easter is the highlight of our year in church.  It is our goal, so to speak, in our Christian walk.  We are looking forward to the Resurrection because according to Romans 6:5, 8, (because if we died with Him, we shall also be raised with Him).  It is proof positive that this world is not our home.  We are just travelers in the land, passing through life heading for the Promised Land that we call Heaven.  So don't get hung up on temporary issues like possessions or reputations or anything else to do with this world.  They won't last, you can't take them with you, and they don't have anything to do with the hereafter.  How we use those things may have a greater impact on the hereafter.  Are we using what we have in life for God's glory in order to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ?  That is what really matters.  Are we being servants of the Most High God?  What is really important in life?  What is life all about?

As you can see I am 'waxing philosophical' as the saying goes.  I suppose it is all of the tragedy, drama, violence, deception, and generally bad situation our world is in that has me in a comtemplative mood.  Add to all of that  Billy Graham died.  I feel a sense of loss and I didn't even know the man except for his public persona.  Billy Graham really made an impact on our world for Jesus.  What kind of impact are we making?  Lives are lost in a senseless shooting, again and again, and where are they spending eternity?  Did someone witness to them and share the love of Jesus with them during their lives?  Mmm, there seem to be more questions than answers in my blog today.  It is okay to ask questions.  We just have to remember that it is more important to be a doer of the Word, a person of action.  James 1:22 "do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says."

Have a great Easter.  Invite people to go to church with you.  Share a meal with someone you don't normally eat with and then share with them the good news of Jesus Christ.  Happy Blessed Easter.  I love you.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
