Some People

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Hot, isn’t it?  Some people love this kind of weather while some people would love to see it a little bit cooler.  Some people would like it to be even hotter and some people would like it to snow.  Some people like rain storms with thunder and lightning, some people like it to be sunny and dry.  Some people love being outside in the weather while some people could care less about the weather because they stay inside all the time.  The point is that everyone is not the same.

Some people like classical music, some like heavy metal music, some like country western music, while still others like the oldies.  Some people have tattoos and others do not.  Some have body piercings while others do not.  People come in all different colors, sizes, ages, and languages.  Some folks live by a different set of customs and rules than others. Some are poor and some are rich with a whole lot of people in between. Lots of people have an education and some do not.  Some have common sense while others do not.  Many people are religious while many are not.  I could go on and on about how different people are from one another but I won’t.  I think you get the idea.  This is the world we live in.

Problems arise when some people think that everyone should be like them.  Yep, some people think their way of looking and living is the only right way.  That kind of thinking only leads to trouble.  I think I have an idea of what makes people think like that sometimes, but I do not get what makes people fanatics and drives them to persecute/harm/hate people who are different than them.  I have always hated racism and it bothers me to watch movies about it.  Actually, it bothers me to watch any show or movie about people taking advantage of other people just because they can.  I think it is evil.  Breaks my heart.  Alas, I am guilty of discrimination too.  I have a hard time dealing with people who are mean to others.  I just want to slap them upside the head and tell them to quit it! Love one another! , Ask Jesus into your life!  And then club them over the head with the Bible!  That is not how we introduce people to Jesus.  That is violent and discriminatory.  Love is the key and love is what it is all about.  Love will fix this broken world.  It is not up to us to judge people and to force them to be just like us.  Nope, not our job.  Or as I have heard our office manager say, “Not my circus, not my monkeys.”

John 12:47: “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person.  For I (Jesus) did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”  Some people need to stop playing God and to just love others no matter how different they may be.  Then the world will be a better place.  So, lets just start with our corner of the world and spread the love of Jesus to everyone we meet no matter how different they may be from us.  Love the sinner and hate the sin.  Separate the two because that is what Jesus did.  Then introduce people to Jesus in word and deed.  Love is the answer.  God loves you and so do I.
