This Too Will Pass

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I typed this out once creating it as I went along and then I hit the wrong key following that up with a tap of frustration on another wrong key and poof!  It was all gone and I have no idea of how to get it back.  I was back at the beginning so I couldn't hit the undo button and the go back button took me nowhere.  How frustrating!  Of course you are reading a whole new set of ideas because of this miscue.  So, I want to tell you that no matter what trial, tribulation, or pain you are going through it will pass.  Storms come and storms go.  It is just that they can do so much damage while they are here, right?  It will pass in time.  Of course there may always be reminders of its passing, scars that tell the story of the hurt that we have experienced.  James 1 says to "consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perserverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  Hard to imagine that going through pain and suffering can be good for you let alone counting it as pure joy.  It is a promise from God however, and God never breaks a promise.  We just don't understand it at times.  If we are fortunate then one day we will be able to look back and realize that good things happened as a result of that ordeal we went through.  I know.  Talk is cheap.  I dont know what you are going through and perhaps I cant relate, but I have been through quite a bit of trouble too.  Laid off from work with 4 babies, blown engine, lost body parts, surgeries, out of control children, bankruptcy, fear, broken heart, and more.  What I found out was that God is with me, sometimes in very unexpected ways.  Whatever it is - this too will pass.  Proverbs 3:5 - "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."  Share your troubles with someone you trust.  As the Good Book says, "cast all your cares upon Him because He cares for you" and remember 'this too will pass'.  If you ever want to hear my testimony just ask.

God loves you and so do I,

Pastor Bruce
